We first came across Benny Mails when he featured on the splendid Gotts Street Park track ‘This World’. Since then Mails has gone from strength to strength, making appearances at Visions and Lovebox alongside Mercury Prize nominee Loyle Carner. Brought up on London’s grime scene, Mails also listened to jazz, funk and Nas while growing up, and originally made his mark as a contemporary dancer. This innate sense of rhythm and flow is directly evident in his music, which is genre-bending, rhythmic and very musical. Speaking about the track, Mails says “It touches briefly on personal experience in previous relationships to family passing away due to knife crime.
